Our Mission

Empowering older adults to navigate the digital world safely through education, resources, and community support.

Seniors receiving technology education

Who We Are

Scam Not Me is a citizen initiative dedicated to protecting older adults from online scams and digital fraud.

Founded in 2025 by a team of IT experts we recognized a critical need: as technology becomes increasingly essential in daily life, those with less digital experience—particularly older adults—face disproportionate risks online.

Every day, thousands of seniors fall victim to sophisticated online scams resulting in financial loss, identity theft, and emotional distress. We believe that with the right knowledge and tools, these incidents can be prevented.

We combines expertise in cybersecurity, senior education, and accessibility to create resources that truly work for older adults, regardless of their technical background.

Our Mission and Vision

We're working toward a future where age is never a barrier to safe technology use.

Mission

Our mission is to empower older adults to recognize, avoid, and report online scams through accessible education, practical tools, and community support, ultimately reducing the financial and emotional impact of digital fraud on seniors.

We achieve this by:

  • Creating senior-friendly educational resources about online safety
  • Providing interactive tools that build practical skills in a safe environment
  • Offering guidance and support for those who have encountered scams
  • Building community awareness through presentations and workshops
  • Advocating for stronger protections against elder financial exploitation

Vision

We envision a world where:

  • All older adults can confidently navigate digital spaces without fear of exploitation
  • Age is never a barrier to safe and beneficial technology use
  • Communities actively protect their vulnerable members from digital threats
  • Scammers targeting seniors face increasing difficulty as awareness and vigilance grow
  • Financial and emotional hardships from online scams are drastically reduced

Through our work, we aim to create a society where digital literacy and safety are accessible to everyone, regardless of age or technical background.

Our Core Values

These principles guide everything we do at Scam Not Me.

Accessibility

We ensure our resources are accessible to everyone, regardless of technical ability, cognitive capacity, or physical limitations. Information should never be out of reach for those who need it most.

Empathy

We approach our work with deep empathy for those affected by scams, recognizing the emotional impact of fraud and creating a supportive, non-judgmental environment for learning and recovery.

Clarity

We communicate in plain, understandable language without technical jargon. Complex security concepts should be explained in ways that empower rather than confuse or intimidate.

Community

We foster a supportive community where people can share experiences, learn from each other, and collectively build resilience against scams and fraud.

Prevention

We believe education and awareness are the most effective tools in preventing fraud. Equipping people with knowledge and skills creates lasting protection against current and future threats.

Inclusivity

We design our resources to be culturally relevant and appropriate for diverse communities, recognizing that scams and their impact vary across different groups.
